SSS Removals Ltd – Terms & Conditions Fixed‑Price Moving Service

 

Applies only to the Fixed‑Fee, One‑Van, Local Moving Service

1. Service Overview

The One Fixed‑Fee Service is a simplified, discounted moving service designed for small, local moves within 20 miles of the pickup address.
It includes one (1) Luton van, one trip, and loading + unloading only.

This service is suitable for:

  • Student rooms

  • Studio flats

  • 1‑bedroom homes

  • Small 2‑bedroom homes (light contents only)

Larger moves must be booked under the General Service (Tailored Quote).

2. Fixed‑Fee Pricing

The following fixed prices apply to local moves within 20 miles:

  • Student Room Move: £295 

  • Studio / 1‑Bedroom Move: £525 

  • 2‑Bedroom Move: £675

These prices are fixed based on:

  • Declared inventory

  • Declared access

  • One van

  • One trip

  • One team

  • One shift (4–8 hours depending on size)

 

3. What’s Included

The fixed‑fee service includes:

  • ✔ One (1) Luton van only

  • ✔ Professional moving team (minimum 2 movers)

  • ✔ Loading and unloading of all declared items

  • ✔ One trip between addresses

  • ✔ Up to 4–8 hours of labour (depending on property size)

  • ✔ Fuel for the first 20 miles

  • ✔ Protection blankets and securing straps

  • ✔ Placement of items in the correct rooms

  • ✔ Standard liability cover (£40 per item)

 

4. What’s Not Included (Unless Agreed in Writing)

  • ✘ Additional vans

  • ✘ Additional van loads

  • ✘ Multiple trips

  • ✘ Collection from multiple addresses

  • ✘ Storage runs

  • ✘ Packing or unpacking

  • ✘ Packing materials

  • ✘ Furniture dismantling or reassembly

  • ✘ Bringing items down from upper floors

  • ✘ Long‑carry distances over 10 metres

  • ✘ Stairs not declared at booking

  • ✘ Customer‑packed item liability

  • ✘ Hazardous items, perishables, pets

  • ✘ Moves requiring more than one van’s capacity

 

5. Access Requirements

The customer must provide accurate access information at both addresses, including:

  • Stairs

  • Lifts

  • Parking distance

  • Narrow hallways

  • Long‑carry distances

  • Loading restrictions

If access differs from what was declared, additional charges may apply.

 

6. Additional Work, Undeclared Items & Same‑Day Charges

This clause applies only to the One Fixed‑Fee Service.

 

6.1 The fixed price applies only to the declared inventory and access conditions.

 

6.2 If additional items, tasks, or access issues are presented on the day, SSS Removals Ltd may:

  • Adjust the fixed price

  • Charge additional fees

  • Require a same‑day top‑up deposit before continuing work

 

6.3 Additional work includes (but is not limited to):

  • Undeclared furniture or boxes

  • Items not at ground level

  • Stairs not previously disclosed

  • Long‑carry distances

  • Dismantling or reassembly

  • Additional van loads

  • Delays caused by keys, agents, or customer readiness

 

6.4 If the customer refuses to pay for additional work:

  • Work may be paused

  • Only the originally agreed work will be completed

  • No refund will be issued

  • The customer remains liable for the original fixed fee

 

7. Mileage & Travel

  • First 20 miles included

  • Additional miles charged at £1.20 per mile

  • Parking fees, tolls, and congestion charges are the customer’s responsibility

 

8. Overtime Charges

If the move exceeds the allocated shift due to reasons outside our control, overtime is charged at:

£50 per hour per mover

Overtime must be paid on the same day.

 

9. Liability & Insurance

Standard Liability

  • £40 per item

  • Applies only to items packed and handled by SSS Removals Ltd

No Liability For

  • Customer‑packed items

  • Pre‑existing damage

  • Mechanical/electrical failure without visible damage

  • Damage caused by restricted access

  • Damage discovered after 48 hours

  • Items not declared as fragile or high‑value

Additional insurance can be arranged upon request.

 

10. Excluded Items

We do not transport:

  • Hazardous materials

  • Gas bottles

  • Chemicals

  • Perishable food

  • Live animals

  • Illegal or prohibited items

 

11. Customer Responsibilities

The customer must:

  • Ensure all items are packed and ready

  • Ensure all items are at ground level unless agreed

  • Arrange parking at both addresses

  • Declare all fragile or high‑value items

  • Provide accurate access information

  • Ensure someone is present at both locations

Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in additional charges.

 

12. Cancellation Policy

 

Notice Period                                       Refund

More than 7 days                                Full deposit refunded

 3–7 days                                              50% of deposit refunded

Less than 48 hours                             Deposit non‑refundable + 50% of total fee payable

Same‑day cancellation                    No refund + full fee payable

Exceptions may be made for genuine emergencies at the company’s discretion.

13. Rescheduling Policy

  • Free if requested 5+ days before the move

  • £30 fee if requested within 48 hours

  • Same‑day rescheduling = treated as cancellation

14. Complaints & Claims

  • All claims must be submitted in writing within 48 hours

  • Photographic evidence required

  • Claims for customer‑packed items will not be accepted

  • Dissatisfaction alone does not entitle the customer to a refund

  • Chargebacks do not replace the internal complaints procedure

 

15. Behaviour & Conduct

Abusive, threatening, or obstructive behaviour may result in:

  • Immediate termination of service

  • No refund

  • Refusal of future bookings

 

16. Acceptance of Terms

By booking the One Fixed‑Fee Service, the customer agrees to all terms in this policy.
